To Be A Servant

Lord Jesus, you who created heaven and earth

From formless space and me from earth’s dust.

You were in the very form of God,

Yet became a servant and example for me.

You know how I was formed and knit together

In my mother’s womb.

You sustained me from my birth

And keep watch over me each day.

O loving Lord, you redeemed my life

And daily forgive my sins.

You crown me with compassion and love

That I may love others – both friends and enemies.

Give me a servant’s mind and heart and will

To give myself for those who suffer fear and pain.

Help me to know how to love others

As you love me.
